**NOTE:A letter written by James Smith McDaniel in June 1795 to somebody in Pittsylvania County Virginia. It appears to be Dear Sir. He refers to money owed him from cotton’.
This letter was in the Washington County Kentucky Court Records at Springfield,Ky. in a suit by Martin McDaniel because of money due him. The money may be owed Martin from a horse that died in James’s possession. Whatever the reason the case lasted several years.
