Halifax Co., VA. Deed Book 8, page 22. June 21, 1770. Wm. McDaniel of Halifax to Wm. Hamlet (Hamblet), 160 pds. for two tracts containing 688 a., Miry Cr., it being the land that McDaniel bought from Sherwood Walton & Wm. Leaton (Heaton??). No witnesses. cwh, see Astin, Witt, Walton.

In November 1759, Daniel Obarr sold to William McDaniel, merchant of Halifax County, 400 acres.

In 1764, 1765, and 1768 William appears on a colonial poll list for Halifax County. He also appears on the list of voters in the election of Burgesses for Halifax County in 1764 and 1765.

On 27 May 1771, William (then living in Halifax County) sold 606 acres in Pittsylvania County to John Wimbash, "which said Tract is part of 3,620 acres Granted said William McDaniel by patent bearing date 10 Jul 1766 . . . along the County line." Johnson McDaniel was a witness and Ann McDaniel relinguished her right of dower

Also on 27 May 1771, William sold to Wimbash five lots in the town of Peytonsburg in Pittsylvania County. "one other Corner lott . . . on which the said ordinary house Stands where said William McDaniel formerly lived . . . and one other Corner Lott . . . on which the Store House formerly occupied by said William McDaniel Stands opposet to said Ordinary house." Again, Johnson McDaniel was a witness and Ann McDaniel relinguished her right of dower.

On 28 Feb 1772 William purchased from Alexander Caldwell, 300 acres in Pittsylvania County on the south side of the Bannister River. This land would later be willed to his son, Clement.
