Henry MCDANIEL (Rev.) b. May 20, 1781 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA, and died August 10, 1863 in Mechanicsburg, Sangamon, IL. He married (1) Mary "Polly" WELLS October 27, 1798 in Clark, KY. He married (2) Amanda CARRICO April 26, 1838 in Sangamon, IL. She was born March 08, 1817 in OH. Henry is buried in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, Sangamon, IL. His widow lived two and one-half miles southwest of Dawson, IL. in 1876.

About 1786 he moved with his parents to Clark county, Ky. In 1809 he entered the ministry and preached until 1822. His first wife died in Kentucky without children. He went to Sangamon county, IL in 1834, but later returned to Kentucky, where he brought out some of his brothers in 1836.

  1. Catherine MCDANIEL b. Feb. 22, 1839 Sangamon, IL., married #1 Thomas HUNTER. He died 1866. She married #2 Austin PHELPS and lived in Springfield.

  2. Angeline "Angie" MCDANIEL b. July 9, 1841, in Clear Lake Township, Sangamon county, IL. She married John T. MCELFRESH. They had three children, and resided in Decatur, Ill.
  3. Henry II MCDANIEL, b. October 29, 1843, Sangamon, IL. Died before 1876.
  4. Charles Blackstone MCDANIEL b. Feb. 7, 1845, in Sangamon county, IL. He married Martha E. MATTHEWS, Jan. 22, 1866, in Springfield, IL. They lived in Mechanicsburg, Illinois.

    Charles enlisted in in Co. A, 73d Ill. Inf.in 1862, was wounded at the battle of Stone's river, Dec. 31, 1862. After he recovered, he was transferred to Bat. G, First Mo. Art., He was honorably discharged, in 1865.
