Subject:                                     Walter Henderson McDaniel (Son of Henderson Crayton McDaniel)

 

Hello. 

 

I found your site this evening regarding the McDaniel family.  My Great Grandmother was Mornia Holliday Hathaway McDaniel.  Her second husband was Walter Henderson McDaniel.  My grandfather was her son by her first marriage to R. K. Hathaway who died at a very young age. 

 

Mornia (you have her listed as Mona Unknown) and Walter H. McDaniel actually had 5 sons together.  Their first son together was  Albert Henderson McDaniel.  He was born in 1896 or 1897.  They lived in Denton County, Texas.  Carl was born in 1901, I believe.  In 1905, Mornia gave birth to twin boys.  One twin, John Richard McDaniel died on the day he was born, which was March 20, 1905.  The other twin was Homer Crayton McDaniel.  I have a letter which was written by my grandfather dated June 5, 1905.  In it he states that “this leaves all well except the baby.  It is pore and not nearly as fat as it was.  Mr. Walters sister, Laura is here now.  She will stay for a month, and if the baby is better she will take it with her.  She is from Waco, Texas.” 

 

Mornia died in April that year after giving birth to the twins. 

 

It Is my belief that Homer Crayton may have gotten  better with the care of Laura (whoever she was) who took him to Waco, Texas possibly.  Do you have any more information about Homer Crayton McDaniel who may have been raised by this “Laura” whose brother’s last name was Walters?

 

My mother and I are very interested in locating Homer’s family if he does have family out there somewhere.

P.S.  There was another son that was born and died the day he was born, but I don’t believe he was named.
