LOUISA JANE MCDANIELwas born March 11, 1826 in TN (Gibson Co?), and died around 1870 in TX and is buried somewhere near White Settlement or Weatherford, TX. Her grave has not been found. She is reported to be 1/2 Cherokee indian.She married JOHN HARTIN GARRETSON on October 29, 1846 in Yell Co., ARK, son of WILLIAM Mason GARRETSON and ELIZABETH JANE HARTIN. John Hartin Garretson was born February 15/25, 1821 in Sumner Co.,TN, and died August 07, 1907 in Moral,Pottawatomi County, OK. Burial: August 08, 1907, Warnnett, Pottawamie, Ok.

(4)Maragret Mahulda Mongomery married December 20, 1883 in Hico, Erath Co Tx. She was born August 28, 1850 in Tippah County, MS, and died July 15, 1915 in Colony, Washita County, OK.

JOHN HARTIN GARRETSON and LOUISA JANE MCDANIELS settled in White Settlement, Tarrant Co, Texas. They were married in Yell Co., Arkansas 1846 and moved to Texas (probably around 1855 with the other McDaniel families). John and Louisa raised their children near White Settlement where they purchased a large farm. They did much of their trading in Weatherford, Texas which was the county seat back then. Louisa Jane died around 1870 and is buried somewhere near White Settlement or Weatherford, TX. Her grave has not been found?

John moved to Parker Co, Texas in the 1870's and Louisa is not listed on the census there.

John Hartin Garretson md Sarah Daniel, a widow. No other info except they were married before 1870 in Parker County, Texas. They divorced between 1875 and 1876.

John Hartin Married the final time to Margaret Mahulda Montgomery, b. August 28, 1850, in Tippah County, Mississippi. They were married December 20, 1883, in Hico, Erath County, Texas. Margaret Mahulda died, July 15, 1915 in Colony, Washita County, Okla. and is buried in Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa, Caddo County, Okla. John Garretson and Margaret Mongomery had 9 children but only 4 lived.She is buried in Alfalfa Cemetery, Alfalfa,Caddo Co..OK

Always glad to meet another researcher who shares one of my family lines.
I've not been in this insane pursuit as long as you have but to date I've
amassed quite a bit on the Garretson family and I suspect you have as well.

If you didn't know, I descend from Martha Ann (Garretson) Howell, John Hartin
Garretson's youngest sister. After the death of their parents, Mason and
Elizabeth "Betsy" (Hartin) Garretson in 1838, Aaron, an older brother, left
Phillips Co Ar with his younger siblings for Jefferson Co Ar. That's where John
Hartin, at age 20, first married on 14 Feb 1842 to Elizabeth Williams. The
family moved on up the Arkansas River and across the state to Yell Co where
John Hartin married a second time on 14 Dec 1846 to Louisa Jane McDaniel. I
don't know what happened to the first wife, she probably died. Two of John
Hartin's sisters also married there in Yell Co. Elizabeth Jane, on 29 Dec 1846,
married William F McClure. Martha Ann, my gr gr grandmother, on 18 Jan
1848, married Haynes A Howell. I know nothing about the McClures so I don't
know if they were related, however, Josephine's marriage was to RC McClure
on 20 Mar 1878 in Erath Co Tx. John Hartin and Louisa Jane left Arkansas for
Texas sometime between the birth of their fourth child, Martha Alice b-15 Nov
1853 and the birth of their fifth child Sarah Catherine b-22 June 1856. I found
the family on the 1860 census listed in San Saba Co TX. I don't know just
when Louisa died but I do have a letter that I've transcribed and it alludes to

her death. I'll paste it below for you. Theodocia was the last of Louisa's
children and she was born in 1863 so her death date of course would be after
that. John Hartin's next wife was the widow Sarah Daniel (maiden name not
known) and I found them listed on the 1870 census in Parker Co Tx. A
courthouse fire in that county destroyed marriage and divorce records for
that time period so we'll never have that information. However, tax records in
Parker Co list Sarah Daniel the widow as late as 1867 so her marriage to John
Hartin would have been between 1867 and 1870. From the tax records I
suspect that the divorce took place between 1875 & 1876. John Hartin's
fourth and final marriage was on 20 Dec 1883 in Erath Co Tx to Margaret M
Montgomery and you know the rest.
