Eddie Lee McDaniel was born December 2, 1912 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Vina Mae and Riley McDaniel and passed away February 25, 1994 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 23 days.
Eddie Lee graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1931 and was a partner in the McDaniel Grocery Store with his father. He married Clesta Cozetta Davis on March 2, 1940 in Cheyenne, OK. Eddie Lee entered the United States Army in 1943 and served his country during World Warr II as a medical techinician on a transport ship in the South Pacific and Europe. After his discharge he owned and opperated McDanil Grocery until his retirement in 1968. He later owned and operated McDaniel Variety Store until 1984.
Eddie Lee had a love of basketball and enjoyed watching his grandchildren paly and his son coach. He was also an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Ceyenne First Baptist Church He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feburary 26, 1994 at the Cheyenne First Baptist Chuch officiated by Laddie Adams. Interment was in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
Survivors include his wife, Clesta of the home; 1 daughter/son-in-law, Sharon and Bill Youngblood, Cheyenne; 2 sons/daughtfers-in-law, Johnny and Becky McDaniel, Cheyenne; Jim and Jill McDaniel, Elk City; 1 sister, Mazine Glenn, Paramount, CA; 6 grandchildren Donna Rutledge, Robert Norris, Jacie, John and Jamie McDanile, Zac McDaniel; 2 great grandchildren, Chase and Shane Rutledge; 1 sister-in-law, Etta Fae and Richard Garling, Cheyenne; his mother-in-law, Farry Davis, Cheyenne; and a host of other relatives and friends.
