Dallas McDaniel went to Africa with a gentleman by the name of C.J. Jones(Charles Jesse Jones). A book was written, "Lord Of the Beasts by Robert Easton, that narrates the exploits of C.J.Jones. Dallas was mentioned but no pictures or details worth bothering about were written. We know he went on safari, because he brought back a piece of ivory that was then carved into pistol grips for his weapon.
Dallas lived in Portales, NM at one time. He was married, wife unknown as it shows divorced on his death certificate that I have which was filled out by Annie Beasley. This also came as a surprise to the rest of the family.
C.J. Jones, was most noted for saving the American Bison from extension. The book covers mostly his actions in protecting what few buffalo was left after the long rifles and fur traders killed the big herds off.
